Co-Cantorial Soloist
Leah S. is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and educator based in Chicago. She has performed worldwide, from intimate house concerts to on stage with the South African National Opera company “Opera Africa”. Leah performs original music and jazz/folk covers both solo and as the bandleader for various ensembles around Chicago. Her debut CD, "A Child Like This" was released in 2017.
Leah's upbringing in classical music, Jewish liturgy and Hebrew language lead her uniquely into the role of cantorial soloist. Today, she has written contemporary musical settings for Jewish liturgy and she has taught and led music at a variety of synagogues in the Chicago area and around the country. Leah also teaches music in Chicago public schools, the Old Town School of Folk Music and for private students. For more information about her original music, click here.
Eitan Barkow

Eitan Barkow is an administrator and organizer based in Chicago. Always curious about how religions can fuel mass movements for social change, Eitan attended Oberlin College where he earned a B.A. in Religious Studies. Previously, Eitan has worked for different harm reduction initiatives in NY, a racial and economic justice nonprofit in Boston, and various social service agencies across Chicago. In his free time Eitan enjoys walking along Lake Michigan, cooking with his roommates, and playing all sorts of string instruments.
Adam Gottlieb

Adam Gottlieb, Tzedek member and Songleader since 2015, is a musician, poet, and activist from Chicago. He leads a fusion band, Adam Gottlieb & OneLove, whose debut album "All of You" was nominated for the Chicago Reader's "Best Local Album of 2020." As a teen he was featured in the 2009 documentary film "Louder Than A Bomb" about the world's largest youth poetry slam festival by the same name. Since then he has gone on to perform and teach widely throughout Chicago, the U.S., and the world, working with youth and adults as a poetry educator. He studied poetry and critical pedagogy at Hampshire College, where he graduated in 2012. In 2020 he helped found the Chicago Union of the Homeless. He is also proud to be Leah Shoshanah's cousin.
Aviva Stein

Aviva Stein is an educator and naturalist on the north side of Chicago. Coming from a career in environmental and Jewish education, Aviva began working as Tzedek Chicago’s Family Program Coordinator in 2019. They are so happy to bring their experience in school administration, project management, and community organizing to their role as Community and Organizational Director, working on all things program, development, and organizational design at Tzedek. When not at Tzedek, you can find Aviva bike riding, bird watching, and reading magic/queer/nature/rad fiction.
